Nollywood Veteran Actress, Omotunde Ogundimu Appeals for Financial Help as She Battles Cervical Cancer; Shybellmedia Renews Support

Veteran Nollywood actress Omotunde Ogundimu has made a heartfelt appeal to Nigerians for financial assistance after revealing that she is battling cervical cancer, a life-threatening illness that has left her in severe pain and in urgent need of medical care.

The actress, who has dedicated over 35 years to the Nigerian film industry, disclosed that the rising cost of treatment has exhausted her family’s financial resources, forcing her to publicly seek help after months of quietly fighting the disease.

Speaking with Shybellmedia, Ogundimu described the excruciating pain she has been enduring since receiving the diagnosis.

“I’m going through severe pain. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I don’t know where I got it from. I don’t look for people’s trouble; I’m an easy-going person.”

This is not the first time the actress has faced a major health challenge. Years ago, she was diagnosed with Fibroids and successfully underwent treatment after Shybellmedia led a fundraising campaign that raised ₦1.5 million, with the support of compassionate Nigerians, to cover her medical expenses.

Ogundimu expressed profound gratitude to her children, who she said have sacrificed everything to keep her alive.

“My children have spent all they have. They are now using all their income to take care of me and can no longer take care of themselves. I thank God for blessing me with my children.”

The actress admitted that she had resisted making a public appeal, hoping to overcome the illness privately. However, the increasing financial burden of treatment has left her with no alternative.

“I had refused to seek help from the public, but now I don’t have any option. I know some people will help me, while others may mock me. Nigerians, please have mercy on me. I just want to get well. The pain is too much.”

A widow since 2012, Ogundimu revealed that she has single-handedly raised her three children while navigating the challenges of life without her husband. She also lamented the lack of acting opportunities in recent years despite repeatedly reaching out to colleagues in the industry.

“I don’t usually get jobs. I have called my colleagues to beg them for movie roles, but none of them did. If I have offended anyone in the industry, please forgive me.”

As the actress continues her courageous battle against cervical cancer, she is appealing to colleagues in the entertainment industry, fans, friends, and well-meaning Nigerians to support her with prayers and financial assistance.
