Former Cross River governor Donald Duke has secured a legal victory after the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed a challenge to his emergence as the Peoples Redemption Party’s presidential candidate for 2027.
Justice Mohammed Umar ruled on Wednesday that the case brought by fellow aspirant Yakubu Kingsley was filed outside the constitutional deadline for pre-election disputes.
The court said the suit was instituted 16 days after the primary election result, exceeding the permitted 14-day period.

The judge also found that Kingsley failed to establish his claims against Duke’s eligibility and compliance with the party’s nomination requirements.
The ruling leaves Duke’s candidacy standing, removing this legal obstacle as the former governor prepares for the presidential contest.
