Nigeria has another reason to celebrate on the global entertainment stage as Nigerian visual artist Uzoma Dunkwu has earned prestigious Emmy recognition for his creative work on Marvel Animation’s Eyes of Wakanda.
Dunkwu was honoured for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation — Character Design, following his work on the Eyes of Wakanda episode “Into the Lion’s Den.”
The achievement puts another Nigerian creative talent in the international spotlight and highlights the growing influence of African artists behind some of the world’s biggest entertainment productions.
Working from Lagos, Dunkwu has built a career that demonstrates how Nigerian creatives can compete beyond Nollywood, Afrobeats and fashion, breaking into highly competitive fields such as animation, character design and global visual storytelling.

His Emmy recognition is also a huge statement for young African artists dreaming of working with international studios: your location does not have to determine the size of your stage.
While television stars and major productions dominated the Emmy celebrations, Dunkwu’s achievement gave Nigerians their own special reason to cheer.
From Lagos to Hollywood, Nigerian creativity continues to travel — and this time, it has an Emmy to show for it.
