Nollywood Mourns: Veteran Actor Solomon Akiyesi Dies Peacefully in His Sleep

Nollywood actor and producer Solomon Akiyesi has passed away. He died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, 26 April 2026.

Abubakar Yakubu, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), confirmed his death on Monday, 27 April. He reported that the actor died in Abuja and that his remains have been taken to a mortuary while the guild awaits further information from the family.

“Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. He slept and did not wake up. His body is in the morgue in Abuja, where the sad incident occurred,” Yakubu stated.

Akiyesi, a native of Akoko-Edo in Edo State, entered the Nigerian film industry in the late 1990s. Over a career spanning more than twenty years, he appeared in over 100 productions, establishing a reputation as a versatile character actor.

His notable film credits include “Marry Who You Love,” “Heart of a Saint,” “Deadly Affair,” and “Pretty Liars.”
