A massive boost for Imo State’s digital future is underway, following a landmark Internet connectivity agreement signed between the State Government (via the Ministry of Digital Economy and e-Governance) and Nigeria’s Technology, Globacom.
The partnership, is designed to accelerate the creation of a digital economy, establish effective e-governance, and build the foundation for a vibrant Smart City in Owerri.
The deal, described as the largest enterprise connectivity project in Globacom’s history, will provide high-speed internet to key institutions, directly benefitting students, civil servants, and the wider community.
Key locations in the state, including the Owerri Smart City project, which houses 15 mega buildings, as well as the Ministry of Digital Economy and e-Governance and the Imo State University for Innovation, Science and Technology (formerly Imo State Polytechnic, will be boosted with high-capacity Internet access by Globacom.
The robust connectivity will be delivered using Globacom’s secure, low-latency Glo-1 submarine cable, guaranteeing world-class service quality essential for running modern education and public services.
Globacom reaffirmed its dedication to driving Nigeria’s growth through cutting-edge connectivity and technology, highlighting the partnership as a testament to its commitment.
