Glo appreciates long-serving staff with millions at iconic party

Globacom, Nigeria’s digital solutions provider, showered its long-serving staff with millions of naira on Saturday night at a sumptuous appreciation ceremony at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos as part of the celebrations of its 20th anniversary.

The “Twenty and Unlimited” party saw a total of 89 employees who had worked for the company for up to twenty years receiving attractive rewards running into millions of naira from the company.

Speaking at the celebration, Mrs. Bella Disu, Executive Vice Chairman of Globacom, expressed her satisfaction with the winners’ contributions to the company’s success over the past 20 years and encouraged them to keep pushing for greatness. She also took time to eulogize the team work from the various business units in the company which has contributed to the success of Globacom in two decades.

“This year, I want us to move forward with even greater zeal and energy than we had in our first two decades, and I want you know without a doubt that your work is the foundation and key to our future. This year, we are committed not only to our company’s growth but to your individual success”, she said.

She promised that the company “

will work tirelessly to increase value for you, our staff, all our subscribers and to all stakeholders. This is our promise to you. Thank you for twenty years. Together, we are good and together we are unlimited”, she stated.

Staff members came from all over the country to attend the high-energy celebration and donned dresses in signature Glo colours. They were entertained by Wande Coal, as well as Glo ambassadors Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka and Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, better known as Kizz Daniel.

Also in attendance were the Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke; Ovation Publisher, Dele Momodu; Nollywood stars, Ego Boyo, Ini Edo, Juliet Ibrahim, and Bolanle Ninalowo, as well as comedian Broda Shaggi, and fashion icon, Mai Atafo. 

Several competition categories that drew substantial prizes from the company were among the evening’s other attractions. These included Mr. Glo and Miss Glo pageants. Ifoghale Ashaka won Mr. Glo, followed by first and second runners-up, Hakeem Obayomi and Olalekan Agbaje. Mr. Glo took home N2 million, while Hakeem and Olalekan received N1 million and N750,000, respectively. The winner of the Miss Glo title was Miss Gift Okafor, who took home N2 million. The first runner-up, Favour Akinbayo, took home N1 million in cash, while Faith Chika Obi placed second, earning N750,000. Each of the male and female best dressed winners received N500,000.

In the dancing competition, Abiola Agunbiade took home the same reward for the male category while Tegha Mobaghan received N500,000 for the female category. The champions of the singing competition, Chukwudi Okorie and Otesanya Adetayo, both took home N500,000. Additionally, there was a food “quaffing” competition with N500,000 awarded to the champions in both the male and female categories. In addition, 20 early birds—those who arrived at the party first—won N250,000 each, and 50 Midnight Owls—those who left last—also received N500,000 each in the two gender categories.
