Breaking! Autopsy Links Drugs to Destiny Boy’s Death

An autopsy report has confirmed the cause of death for 22-year-old Afrofuji singer Afeez Adesina, popularly known as Destiny Boy.

Destiny Boy, a rising star in the Afrofuji scene renowned for blending traditional Yoruba Fuji sounds with contemporary Afrobeats, tragically passed away on January 17, 2026, under controversial circumstances that have sparked outrage and calls for an investigation.

After his death, videos circulated widely on social media showing what appeared to be his body being taken to a morgue, fueling rumors about the true cause of his demise.

Two months later, the autopsy findings were made public. The case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice, and while awaiting their guidance, the Police Homicide Section carried out the autopsy.

It was disclosed about a week ago that the autopsy report was finally released. When asked on Friday, police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the report’s publication. He explained that toxicology results revealed high levels of tramadol, its metabolites, and methamphetamine in the deceased’s body.

The report concluded that the cause of death was aspiration pneumonitis, resulting from the ingestion of these toxic substances.
