Olu Jacobs’ Final Farewell Begins as Nollywood Prepares to Honour Screen Legend

Nollywood is preparing to celebrate the life of veteran actor Olu Jacobs, with a Night of Tributes scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, at Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos Island.

The event, beginning at 4 p.m., will bring together colleagues, friends and admirers ahead of his funeral service on Friday, October 2. Guests attending the tribute gathering have been asked to wear shades of blue.

The funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, followed by a private burial.

Jacobs died on September 16 at 84. Trained at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he built a distinguished career across theatre, television and film before becoming one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces.

His commanding performances as kings, chiefs and fathers helped establish a screen legacy that generations of Nigerian viewers will remember.
