Lagos-based socialite Olaseni Johnson Olayinka, popularly known as Abu Abel, has been arrested by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, for his alleged involvement in a ₦447 million land scam.

Acting on the directive of AIG Margaret Ochalla, a tactical team led by CSP Taiwo Oyewole apprehended the suspect in a Victoria Island residence where he had been hiding for weeks to evade arrest and frustrate police investigations.

Abu Abel is accused of fraudulently selling three plots of land in Eti-Osa LGA to Doyin Investment Group, misrepresenting himself as the rightful owner. Despite signing a deed of assignment and receiving full payment, it was later discovered that the land was already subject to a third-party claim.

Although he refunded ₦230 million, he defaulted on the ₦217 million balance and attempted to obstruct justice through a fundamental rights suit. Police also revealed the suspect is under investigation for possible links to a secret cult involved in land grabbing and organized fraud. He is expected to be arraigned soon.
