Osun plays host to NIWIIT National Conference and AGM on ‘Empowering Women In Tech’

The Nigeria Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT), an interest group of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), is set to stage  its 9th National Conference and 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Osogbo, Osun State.

With the  theme “Empowering Women in Tech: Shaping the Future through Innovation and Collaboration”, the NIWIIT Conference will focus principally on women in Technology and cultivating mutually beneficial networks between industry, Academia and Government.

The 2-day event scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, 26th and 27th June 2024 in Osogbo, aims to empower young girls and women with relevant digital and other relevant skills that can bridge the digital gender gap in the country, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.

Mrs. Dele Bayo-Osibo, The President of NIWIIT said in a release: “The NIWIIT, Annual Conference celebrates the crucial role women play in driving technological innovation, economic growth, and societal change. Despite significant progress, gender disparities remain in the tech sector, with women underrepresented in leadership, entrepreneurship, and technical fields”.

She said further: “The NIWIIT Annual Conference offers a premier platform for women to discuss challenges, share success stories, and strategize on overcoming barriers in the tech industry.”

“NIWIIT aims to support, develop, recognize, and promote the achievements of women in the technology industry via relevant events, mentoring, programs, awards, and networks”.

“NIWIIT is committed to being distinguished as a professional and credible organization,”She concluded.
