Nigerian Child, Father Drown in Pool at Maryland Party

A Nigerian man identified as Haffis Olanrewaju Agboola and his 7-year-old daughter Christian Omofolawe Agboola died on Saturday after an accident at home in Waldorf just before 6 p.m.

Initially, the agents who answered the 911 call observed three victims at the bottom of the residence’s swimming pool and immediately jumped to rescue them. All three victims were removed from the water and received CPR.

The 44-year-old father and daughter died shortly after being taken to hospital.


According to source the girl either fell or jumped in the pool, which led to two men and a teen going into the pool to help save her.

The third victim, a 17-year-old man, was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital Center in critical condition. Two firefighters were also injured in the water rescue and were taken to hospital, treated and then released.

The child and his father were invited to a birthday party at a house with an outdoor swimming pool when the child jumped into the pool on Saturday, the Sheriff’s office said.

According to a source, the girl fell or jumped into the pool, which led to two men and a teenager entering the pool to help save her.
