Bizarre: Police Arrest 23-Year-Old Man Found With Severed Head of 6-Year-Old Girl in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Sodiq Kayode Akorede, in connection with the gruesome murder of a six-year-old girl, Mutiyatu Sunday, in Ibadan.

The incident occurred on April 11, 2026, at Adigun Village in the Olorunda Ogunsola area.

Police received intelligence that the minor had been unlawfully killed, with her severed head reportedly found in the suspect’s possession.

Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, operatives were swiftly deployed to the scene.

Despite resistance from an angry mob attempting to lynch the suspect, the police exercised restraint and professionalism, successfully rescuing and arresting him while securing the exhibit.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime.

He sustained injuries from the mob attack and was taken to a medical facility for treatment before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation and prosecution.
