Lekan Babalola, Two-Time Grammy Award Winner Sets To Release New Album 

LEKAN BABALOLA, one of Nigeria’s most accomplished jazz musicians, strikes gold again with his greatly anticipated 2th album entitled ‘LAKAAYE’. Lakaaye comes after an 11year wait, his 1st album being ‘Songs of Icon’ 2006, released on Mr Bongo Records.

The two-time Grammy Award Winner is set to release the album in ……..and it is sure to invoke some positive funky vibes.

His first single from the forthcoming ‘LAKAAYE’ album is ‘Whirlwind’, a song featuring UK based rapper Jay L’Booth. The vibes you get off this song can be described as jazz with a funk twist.

The ‘Whirlwind’ video has been shot by Temple Motion Pictures, Directed by Lanre Fagbemi and compliments the UK sound with a Nigerian visual sensibility. The video will be released

Whirlwind will be available for download at all digital stores and there is talk of a vinyl print in future.

Lekan Babalola is an accomplished musician, with two Grammy Awards to his name. He won the prestigious award for the first time in 2006 for his work on Ali Farka Toure’s In the Heart of the Moon, receiving credit on three songs. He won a second Grammy in 2009 for his work on Cassandra Wilson’s album, “ Loverly” . He is also a champion of Yoruba cultural traditions and is keeping the traditional music and arts alive across the Globe.
