The Federal Government has reduced the pump price of petrol to N130 per litre from its present rate of 145 per litre.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, announced the price reduction after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, had on Tuesday called for a reduction in the pump price of petrol among other measures to cushion the effect of the spread of coronavirus on Nigerians.
Sylva said the approval for the reduction in price was given after a presentation at the FEC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Nigeria so far has eight confirmed cases of coronavirus, with five of them detected on Wednesday (today).
