A Federal High Court in Abuja has restrained the Senate from proceeding with disciplinary action against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over her recent clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the order on Tuesday after hearing an ex parte application from Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team.

The Kogi Central senator was referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions after she rejected her seat allocation during a plenary session on February 20 and repeatedly challenged Akpabio’s ruling.

The Senate had directed the committee to investigate her actions following claims by Senator Yemi Adaramodu that the incident brought the Senate’s image into disrepute.

The court’s decision has temporarily halted the disciplinary process, pending the outcome of the case.
