DSS Agents Storms Ibrahim Magu’s Residence in Search of Evidence

Police and DSS agents raided Ibrahim Magu’s residence in Maitama, Abuja on Tuesday in a vivid display that the probe into his alleged corruption investigation is continuing despite his suspension from office.

A swarm of federal agents was seen fanning out another of his residence at Karu, Abuja also, in search of evidence linked to corruption allegation.

It was reported Monday on this platform that Magu was arrested and driven to the Presidential Villa.

“This has been something on our radar for a year now,” said an official familiar with the matter. “We’re all really curious why it’s happening now.” A senior law enforcement official briefed on the investigation confirmed that the DSS launched a search of  Magu’s residence. The search was directed by Presidential Panel set up to investigate the activities of the suspended anti-graft agency boss.

The raid was launched less than 24 hours after he was suspended by the president. He was also accused of extorting money — through a proxy‎ — from suspects, multiple top law enforcement officials have said. 

A source said Magu is still being detained at the Police FCID in Abuja. In a 2017 report, Magu was accused of living in a house paid for by a “corrupt” businessman.

Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), had asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Magu over some corruption allegations.
