Driver ‘Commits Suicide’ At Mechanic Workshop in Lagos

A 43-year-old commercial driver identified as Kabiru Bello allegedly committed suicide at a mechanic workshop in Lagos on Saturday.

Bello, a resident of 77, Owode Ibeshe in Ikorodu allegedly drank insecticide suspected to be sniper at the workshop located at Ladylack Bus Stop, Somolu around 1pm.

It was gathered that the Bello was inside his bus with registration number AKD724XM when he drank the substance.

People at the workshop were said to have rushed him to Adesola Clinic in Somolu where he was confirmed dead.

According to police spokesman Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), homicide detectives visited the scene and discovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained sniper, adding that his body was deposited in mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, policemen attached to Ilemba Hausa Division in Ojo at the weekend recovered two single barrel guns from fleeing armed robbers said to have fleeced a young man of his laptop.

It was gathered that the police has received distress call around 9:30pm on Saturday that suspected armed robbers attacked one Wale Lawal and dispossessed him of his valuable.

Elkana said a team of policemen were deployed to tail them, adding that the suspects abandoned their operational black Honda vehicle with number plate Lagos KJA705BU.

“On the spot search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two locally made single barrel guns with twelve life cartridges, one laptop and a mobile phone. The vehicle was moved to the station for further investigation,” he said.
